- How does the system work?
You have a pendant that you wear around your neck, or wrist.
It is water proof so you can wear it in the shower, tub, or
pool. If you need help, just press your button. A few seconds
later our Care Center begins a two-way conversation with you
through the console. You can speak hands-free and say specifically
what you need. Example: "I don't need an ambulance, please
call my daughter." It's not always a medical emergency.
We will do whatever you ask us to do. However, if we are unable
to speak to you, we would immediately dispatch the local paramedics
to your home and notify key responders. Many customized solutions
are available.
- How far from the system can I be
heard?
The system has a sensitive speaker/microphone. In the average
home we can talk regardless of what room you are in. However,
we have had people in the very room where the system is located
who were unable to speak with us. Perhaps because of a heart
attack, stroke, or choking on something. In that case, we would
immediately dispatch local paramedics to your house.
- What if the user is hearing impaired?
The systems have a sensitive speaker/microphone. There are also
special units amplified for the hard of hearing. when we don't
hear the client and they don't speak, we will always assume
it's an emergency and get help.
- Does the unit work outside?
Yes. If you should have a problem outside the house, anywhere
from 600 to 1500ft (optional) from the home, the system will
work. For better voice quality and a pendant with a speaker
in it, call 1-800-716-1433 and ask about the new Lifewatch Alert
911 and Lifewatch Cellular Medical Alarm, with GPS. Protection
away from home!
- Is the pendant hard to press?
The pendant is designed to be pressed firmly in order to prevent
false alarms. Many personalized options exist for individuals
who may have difficulties pressing the pendants. Remember all
clients have a thirty day trial period. If you or a loved one
are not satisfied, just return it with no questions asked.
- Does the unit work with VOIP or
DSL?
Yes. We have special equipment designed to work with these type
of phones.
- Can I use this system if I move?
Yes. Simply give us 24 hours prior written notice so that we
can update your file with the new address and telephone number.
When you reinstall the unit press the pendant and test the system.
This way we can see that you are in the new location.
- Who responds to my call for Help?
A Lifewatch specialist at our Care Center will talk with you
through the console. If assistance is needed, we will call your
local EMS or responders to help. We will even stay on the line
with you until help arrives.

- What If the electricity goes out?
The system has a battery back-up that will operate the unit
for up to 5 days after an electrical outage. When power is restored
the battery recharges, so it is ready for any additional power
outage.
- How would the paramedics get into
my home?
Neighbors, friends, family, or security could have a key. A
key can be hidden and we would give the location to the EMS.
The EMS can break in. The best solution is a lock box which
we can provide.
- What happens if I accidentally set
off my medical alarm?
If you should ever accidentally set off your alarm that's ok,
just tell the operator that you accidentally pressed the button.
They will disconnect and no further action would be taken. We
are there 24 hours a day and are happy to assist you.
- I live in a rural area, can I still
be covered?Absolutely! We are a national company
and you can have your service ANYWHERE in the United States.
- How do I plug unit in? Do I lose
my phone jack? You simply plug the system in like
you would a telephone answering machine. You do not lose your
telephone jack.
- Do I need a special phone jack to
install the medical alarm?
No, Everything you need is included for a simple install.
- How long does it take to get a responce
after I press the button for help?
About thirty seconds later, our care center will begin to have
a two way conversation with you, to see how we can assist you.
- If something goes wrong with my medical
alarm unit, How do I get it fixed?
If this should happen, simply call our toll free number (1-800-716-1433)
and we will attempt to troubleshoot the problem with you over
the phone. If for some reason, we cannot resolve the problem
over the phone, we will send you a replacement that day at no
charge.
- How big is the medical alarm unit
and pendant?
The console is about the size of your average telephone and
sits easily on any table. The pendant is very lightweight and
waterproof. It is not cumbersome in any way.
